Results of 2007 Miami Shores Village Election, April 10, 2007

from Miami-Dade Department of Elections, Miami-Dade County - Elections

As the table below shows, Herta Holly was top vote-getter with 783 votes, and Stephen Loffredo was second, with 678. Both incumbents, they will take four-year terms expiring in April 2011 on with the new council's inaugural April 17, 2007. By custom, the top vote-getter becomes mayor for the next two years, and the second highest vote-getter vice mayor. Former council member Prospero Herrera, with 621 votes, and recreation board member Hunt Davis, with 608 votes, will each serve for two years. One of those latter terms finishes the four-year term of Mayor Al Davis, who must step down because of term limit rules. Jim Halliday and Eddie Lewis - both 20-year residents of the village - were first-time council candidates and are newcomers to village politics. Council member J.R. Rodriguez will remain on the council until 2009. Of the five council members, therefore, three are incumbents, one a former councilman and one (Hunt Davis) a first-time council member.

Messrs. Davis and Rodriguez win four-year terms. Mr. Loffredo returns to the council for a two-year term.
