Every two years, we sponsor and conduct a public Q and A for council candidates. The next election is in April 2011. The association is the best ways to understand the village's inner workings, as you can see from the minutes with vital 2010 budget information from our September 2009 meeting.
In April 2010, Vice Mayor Donald Shockey resigned from the Village Council to take a position as an urban planner with NATO in Afghanistan. Wish him the best! Prospero Herrera II is replacing him as vice mayor and former council member Hunt Davis was appointed to replace Don on the council. They will join Mayor Al Davis, former Mayor Herta Holly and Steve Loffredo on the council. and Herta Holly.

The Miami Shores Property Owners' Association is an independent resource and information clearinghouse and advocacy group for the taxpayers and residents of the Village of Miami Shores, Fl.
As an association, we are dedicated to strengthening community cohesion and promoting sound municipal police, maintenance, code enforcement, education and recreation services.
We take pride in our community, along Biscayne Bay in the heart of the Biscayne Boulevard corridor six miles north of downtown Miami.
The village runs under a Village Manager form of government, granting day-to-day administrative power to the village manager. Miami Shores Village holds a village council election every odd-numbered year.
The mayor's position is as a tie-breaker, council member and decision-maker for projects for the village good. The mayor often sets the tone for the village's relationships with other government entities. Council members make one dollar a year and get no benefits. One runs for council for the greater good of the community rather than for personal gain or advantage. Major challenges facing the village include budget issues with rising personnel and pension costs, likely pressure on the village budget from tax "reform" moves in Tallahassee that will transfer the burdens to local governments, and the village's fledgling Doctors' Charter School, which, while "A"-rated, requires community support for long-term success.
